Privacy Policy
Last updated 2 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information is collected when you visit viibreaths.com or get in touch, how it is used, and your rights. VII Breaths is the practice of Nike Oruh, a counsellor, speaker and facilitator based in Edinburgh.
Who is responsible for your information
Nike Oruh (trading as VII Breaths) is the data controller for information collected through this website. You can contact me about anything in this policy at nikeoruh@gmail.com.
What I collect
When you email me
There is no contact form on this site. All contact and enquiry links open your own email app and send a message directly to me. When you email, I receive your name, email address and anything you choose to include in your message.
If you are enquiring about counselling, please keep your first message brief. There is no need to share details about your health or circumstances until we have spoken and agreed how to work together.
When you browse the site
This site does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not have a newsletter sign-up or an online shop.
Like all websites, the server hosting this site automatically keeps standard technical logs, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. These are used only to keep the site secure and working, and are deleted automatically by the hosting provider.
The site uses fonts provided by Google Fonts. To display them, your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address. See Google’s privacy policy for how Google handles this.
Links to other sites
This site links to Instagram and Substack. If you follow those links, their own privacy policies apply. I don’t control and am not responsible for how those services use your information.
How I use your information and the legal basis
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange counselling, speaking, workshops or consultancy. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in responding to people who contact me, or taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement.
- To keep the website secure and working. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running a safe, functioning website.
I will never sell your information or use it for marketing without your consent.
Confidentiality
As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I work within the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. Enquiries are treated as confidential. If you go on to become a counselling client, I will give you separate information about how records from our sessions are kept and the limits of confidentiality before we begin.
Who I share it with
I don’t share your information with anyone else except:
- service providers who help run this website and my email (for example web hosting and email providers), who process data only on my instructions
- where I am required to by law
Some of these providers may store data outside the UK. Where they do, appropriate safeguards are in place as required by UK data protection law.
How long I keep it
Enquiry emails that don’t lead to working together are deleted within 12 months. If we do go on to work together, information is kept for as long as needed for that work and any professional, insurance or legal requirements, and then securely deleted.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information I hold about you
- ask me to correct information that is wrong
- ask me to delete your information
- object to or ask me to restrict how I use it
- ask for your information to be transferred to you or someone else
To make a request, email nikeoruh@gmail.com. I will respond within one month.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how your information has been handled, please contact me first at nikeoruh@gmail.com so I can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
